IN FALL 2020, WE LAUNCHED TWO NEW COURSES: ILLUSTRATION BASIC AND ILLUSTRATION ADVANCED.

The Illustration Advanced course is suitable for practicing illustrators and graphic designers who want to work in new techniques, find new visual solutions, and master methods for generating ideas.

During the course, we will develop visual thinking, come up with ideas, create illustrations for real clients. We will use and mix different techniques and techniques. We will experiment, analyze, search for our visual language. And during the practical exercises, we will create a zine, work on a book, draw a comic strip.

To enroll in the course, you will need to complete an introductory assignment that we will send after your registration. And if you are just starting your way in illustration, we recommend that you first take the Illustration Basic course.

Program

The program will consist of a large number of practices and 5 modules: the first introductory - about illustration itself, creative techniques and sketching. The second module is devoted to characters and portraits. The third is about narrative and comics. The fourth is devoted to book illustration and everything connected with it. The fifth is entirely devoted to animation.

  1. Introductory module

    Modern illustration and its scope → Sketching. Quick sketches. Working with different materials → Composition and color. Analytical copying. Visual research → Creative techniques - methods of generating ideas → Zin and DIY culture

  2. Character and portrait

    Portrait in illustration. Facial expressions → Portrait in illustration. Gesture and emotions → Character. Work with sculpture. Character sculpture. Gesture and hyperbole → Character. Composition. Working with forms. Stylization → Graphic techniques. Collage

  3. Narrative and comics

    Visual narrative. The hero's journey. Comics

  4. Book illustration

    Composition and construction of the book → Lettering. Typography and poster. Book cover → Graphic techniques. Linocut

  5. Frame-by-frame animation

    Final module. Illustration and business → View final projects
